It’s already hard enough for activision that the founders of Infinity Ward Vince Zampella and Jason West left the company and started their own and started a new studio called Respawn Entertainment. After that was done, employee after employee is leaving Infinity Ward, most to join Respawn Entertainment.. But now, it looks like Activision is getting sued for over $500 million dollars in court!
The “Infinity Ward Employee Group” is 38 plaintiffs that has filed a lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court, the group consists of former and even current employees of Infinity Ward. The group wants $75 million USD to $125 million in compensatory damages and $75 to $500 million in punitive damages. They claimed that Activision owed them $28 million in bonuses, and are owed another $54 million.
Activision says that they have paid their bonuses correctly and they said they “look forward to getting judicial confirmation that our position is right.”
Hey guys, this is just a short little post to let you know that the US Playstation Store updates will be moving to Tuesdays every week instead of the usual Thursdays. This was confirmed in this weeks episode of The PlayStation Network Informational show “Pulse.”Apparently Europe’s PlayStation Store updates are going to be moved to Wednesday’s and I’m not sure how that will work out not in congruency with the U.S. There is also no word on if PlayStation Home content updates will change either.
I’m glad they moved the Store Updating to Tuesday, because now it is the same as Xbox Live’s weekly update, and various content releases should hopefully be released at the same times. Of couse this isn’t a huge change, but i prefer it. What do you guys think?
The Numbers for March are here, the month of games like God of War III and Final Fantasy XIII (Which managed to sell a lot this month) but surprisingly there wasn’t a big surge in console sales compared to last month especially with the systems with these games like the PS3 and the 360. Games like God of War III and Pokemon managed to top one million in sales last month, Final FantasyXIII neared 900,000.

Microsoft today confirmed that last week’s release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package shattered Xbox LIVE® records as more than one million gamers worldwide downloaded the new map pack from Activision and Infinity Ward in the first 24 hours alone, passing the 2.5 million mark within the first week.
Now here are some crazy and intresting numbers and facts below:
Xbox LIVE is the largest Call of Duty community of any entertainment system. According to Microsoft, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players have invested more than 1.75 billion hours of gameplay on Xbox LIVE alone since the title’s release in November, which is equal to more than 200,000 years of gameplay playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
wow, call of duty is making some serious ca$h. Even with that overpriced $15 cost for the stimulus package it killed previous dlc records! so what are your thoughts?
“Crytek has claimed that it’s NewYork-based FPS sequel Crysis 2 will bring an unbeatable new visual quality to the PS3″
Okay, so what do we have here. It looks like Crytek is really confident about their graphical job with developing Cyrisis 2 for consoles. Of course on the Playstation 3, we have already seeen some astounding visuals including Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, and God of War 3. Despite what we all have seen and played, the lead Playstation 3 programmer Michael Glück is confident that Crysis 2 will exceed anything that has gone before.
“With each generation of game titles on PS3, usually every 2 years, the games improve significantly in its quality, mostly showing off in graphics,” Glück told Play Magazine. “I think with Crysis 2 you will see the quality bar being set at a very high level that games will struggle to excel. We’re aiming to set a whole new benchmark with that game for all PS3 games.” ………
Apple has revealed today that they have sold more than 300,000 iPad tablet computers through midnight April 3. Sales included deliveries of pre-ordered iPads to customers, deliveries to channel partners and sales at Apple retail stores. The iPad retails from $499 and up, depending on hard drive space. It should also be noted that iPad users have downloaded close to more than 1 million apps from Apple’s App Store and more than 250,000 e-books from its iBookstore during the first day.
Here some simple calculations i made just for fun. If you multiply the $499 price tag of the iPad times the 300,000 sold, that equals over $150,000,000 made. Of course some of that money is void because of various costs (production & marketing) but its still fun to look at.
It will be interesting to see how sales will pick up from here through the rest of the year. Is the iPad yet another great success of a device from Apple?
Estimates from the research department of Home Media Magazine are listed each week on Blu-ray.com sales posts. Today they revealed that revenues from BD sales in the US in the first quarter of 2010 were over $331.31 million! This is 68.5% more than in the same period of 2009. Blu-ray accounted for 12.3% of packaged-media sales revenue in the first three months of the year (versus 7.0% in Jan-Mar 2009).The biggest-selling week in the quarter was the week ended March 25, with $45.46 million in BD sales.
I just found some of these numbers interesting to look at. Blu-ray is definably a growing and evolving market. It looks like they have a long way to go to push DVD out of the way but at least they can start showing other companies such as APPLE, that Blu-ray is making money and is worth investing in as a new standard. I think it will be interesting to watch Blu-rays growth over the next few years, especially now that digital distribution is starting to rear its head.
