PlayStation 4 Is The Fastest Selling Console In UK History, Sells 250K

PlayStation 4 Is The Fastest Selling Console In UK History, Sells 250K

The PlayStation 4 is the fastest selling console in UK history, selling a total of 250K units in its first 48 hours on sale, the previous record was held since 2005 with the original PSP that sold 185K during the launch weekend. For comparison reasons the Xbox One sold 150K during its opening weekend and the PlayStation 3 sold 165K in the same time period.

This means the PlayStation 4 made around £87 million in its first 48 hours on sale in the Uk, for you guys in america thats around $140 million.

The game chart also changed around a lot after the launch of the PS4 with Cod Ghosts moving back to the top spot, Fifa 14 in second, Battlefield 4 in 3rd and finally PlayStation exclusive Killzone Shadow Fall in 4th giving it the title of the best selling single platform title this generation.

Sony Confirms PlayStation 4 Failure Rate Only 1%

Sony has released a statement on the recent issues with the PlayStation 4 launch. The statement confirms there has been various small issues reported since launch which all but confirms the PlayStation 4 doesn’t have a large technical issue, each issue found is generally mistakes in production and have been limited to a small minority of users.

Sony also confirmed the PlayStation 4 has a 1% failure rate, this is very low for a new product launch and is actually well in the industry standard for any electrical product, this confirms that recent reports of PlayStation 4 issues have been very over hyped, you can read the full statement from Sony below.

There have been several issues reported, which leads us to believe there isn’t a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of PS4 units. We also understand that some units were reportedly damaged during shipping. The number of affected PS4 systems is less than 1%, which represents a very small percentage of total units shipped to date and is within the expected range for a new product introduction. We understand the frustration of consumers that have had a problem and are working with them and our retail partners to help troubleshoot issues and ensure affected units are exchanged.
