The PSVita, Sony’s upcoming portable device that so far looks like it will blow the PSP away, has even more games on the way, at the Gamescom conference in Europe today, four new games got announced for the PSVita, and they don’t look too bad either!
The first game announced will be called Resistance: Burning Skies (some concept art is above) and will feature ”full advantage of the system’s dual analog sticks and features an all-new hero and story.”
SCEE will also be working on a new game called Escape Plan, where you “use touch controls to guide our newest characters “Lil” and “Laarg” through a dark labyrinth of puzzles and traps.”
Lastly, Ubisoft has announced that they will be making a brand new Assassin’s Creed game on the Vita and EA has also announced that they are bringing FIFA to the Vita too, all good-looking games, but I’m still wanting some new IP’s specifically for the Vita to be announced too.
London’s ongoing riots have resulted in the destruction of Sony’s DADC (Digital Audio Disc Corporation) facility located in Innova Park, Enfield.
The plant is responsible for the manufacturing of CDs, DVDs, UMDs and Blu-Ray disks, to england and europe. This means there may start to be a high demand on playstation products, including ps3/psp games.
Sony said at E3 2011, “The new portable system would be out in “at least one territory” by the end of 2011.” and no shock here it is going to be Japan. SCEI Chairman Kaz Hirai clarified that the PlayStation Vita would miss the holidays in America and Europe, instead rolling out in those regions during early 2012.
Also don’t be surprised to get a huge amount of new info on the vita and it’s games at this years Gamescom, fully hosted here at DLB-Network.
Sony has now added sucker punch production’s to there 1st party developer list with sony’s great titles like UNCHARTED, MLB The Show, Gran Turismo, Killzone, Little Big Planet, God of War, SOCOM, Syphon Filter, Twisted Metal, and many more.
What this deal means is you should see more games from the company and maybe them expanding there hit catalog with more great exclusive playstation games. I also expect them to implement more playstation network features into there games, which is great for everyone.

A sony dev has explained 4 major social features coming to the ps vita, Near, Party, LiveArea and Activity, there is not a huge amount of detail but i expect to see a interface demo at gamescom but this info should keep you happy till then.
Near, for instance, will allow Vita owners to look at the favorite games of nearby players, and allow players to drop and pick up “gifts,” which could range from special in-game items to high score challenges.
Party will give players cross-game chat capabilities, allowing them to invite friends to groups and launch games directly through the UI, which all party members will be invited to.
LiveArea is a tad more esoteric: it will display information about software as it is launched, and will allow users to “comment on people’s activities within the game as well as publish your messages.”
Activity feed will show the in-game accomplishments of friends (including high scores and Trophy unlocks) in real time. The feed can also be updated by publishers and developers, though Rogers suggested, “it’s important not to spam users too much and to use it sensibly.”
In this podcast we talk about the Uncharted 3 beta, the PlayStation 4, the cloud based save systems for next-gen systems, we also talk about Mac OS Lion, that and so much more in this weeks podcast, enjoy!

During an interview, Tim Schaaff, president of Sony’s network entertainment, discussed hte PSN outage and how it was a “great learning experience.”
“We’re back online, everything’s live again around the world, and the amazing thing through all of this is that the customers have all come back, and network performance is better than ever, sales are better than ever, and we’ve been very, very pleasantly surprised by the experience. And we’re in a place where we’re really looking forward again to what’s next, what’s new, and how we can keep growing the network. It’s a pretty crazy event that we went through but we survived, and we’re back strong, and ready to go,” said Schaaff
“It’s dramatic but that the lesson we learned from this process is that there are some crazy things going on in the world right now, and in the beginning we were very concerned that we were the focal point for this attack, and it was all about Sony, and what was Sony doing.”
“I think for people running network businesses, it’s not just about improving your security, because I’ve never talked to a security expert who said, ‘As long you do the following three things you’ll be fine, because hackers won’t get you… The question is how do you build your life so you’re able to cope with those things?”
“It’s been a great experience,” Schaaff concluded.
“A great experience?” said Dylan Tweeney, executive editor at VentureBeat.
“A great experience,” Schaaff replied. “I would not like to do it again. One time was enough. Great learning experience.”
Sony has recently announced a $20 million dollar, three-year long investment to bring new PSN exclusive games similar to games like Flower and PixelJunk. This investment will include first and third party games and will be called the “PSN exclusive games portfolio”. Some of the upcoming games that we have seen in this PSN excclusive games portfolio is Eufloria, Okabu, and Papo & Yo.
Sony promises much more unique and interesting games to hit PSN exclusively on PS3 but it is not clear id this investment will also be contributing on PSVita and PSP. This is good news and all, but I’m hoping that Sony also invests in some much needed PSN features soon also.
Earlier we posted an article detailing a Resistance 3 bundle found with “PSN Pass” listed on the side of the box and Sony has quickly came out and confirmed this rumor. Sony stated that the PSN Pass is a code that is used to play the online version of the game, the code is provided with the new version of the game and only works once.
In other words, this is virtually the same thing that EA and THQ have been doing with their games to make a profit off of their used games. People who buy the new version of the game for $59.99 will get get to play online for free, everything will be normal besides having to type in the pass-code provided with the game before playing the game’s online mode. People who buy Resistance 3 used, however, will have to buy a PSN pass separately for extra money to be able to play the game’s online mode. Developers do not make money off of their used games so this is a solution to start making money.
Resistance 3 will be the first to use this program and we will no doubt see more developers tag along, we’ll probably start to even see a program similar to this offered by Xbox Live eventually. Even though people who purchase the game are still able to play the game’s online mode for free, I’m still imagining some problems for this program down the line.
