We are back after our Christmas break, and we have a lot to cover in this podcast. DLB and SilverK9 went to CES (the Consumer Electronic Show) a few days ago and saw a whole lot of cool stuff. DLB talks about all of the crazy technology he saw, 4K Televisions, curved screens, Sony’s awesome projector, and a lot more. There’s also a lot of talk about pizza… So um, yeah! Enjoy the show everybody!
I think the media and gamers alike didn’t expect Sony to announce anything very significant in regards to the video gaming world at CES 2014. That’s what E3 is for right? Well… yeah. However, yesterday Sony broke the rules by quietly dropping two bombs on the gaming world at CES.
SCEA President Andrew House announced a new cloud based TV Service from Sony, this new service will run in a similar way to the exciting Music Unlimited and video Unlimited services Sony already has. This new TV service will allow you to stream live cable TV to any device with this application installed which of course includes the PlayStation 4, Bravia Tv’s plus Smartphones/tablets.
This application will not only allow you to stream live cable TV but will also have many interactive options like the ability to pause and start live TV on multiple devices, search the TV Guide, Social features and watch TV on demand.
Sadly apart from the application launching later this year we have no other information at this time.
During Sony’s CES 2014 conference Andrew House announced the new Playstation streaming service called PlayStation Now. PlayStation Now is based and built on Gaikai technology and will allow users to stream new and old PlayStation titles on various gaming and non gaming devices.
Andrew House announced that PlayStation Now will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, Sony Bravia TV’s and Android/iOS based SmartPhones/Tablets. At this time we don’t know what games will be available on the service but Andrew House did announce The Last Of Us and Beyond Two Souls will be playable on Bravia Tv’s at CES so we expect to see those at launch.
A closed beta version of PlayStation Now will start at the end of january with the full launch coming Summer this year.
During Sony’s CES 2014 conference Andrew House revealed that 4.2 Million PlayStation 4′s have been sold worldwide as of December 28th. Previously Sony announced the PlayStation 4 had sold 2.1 million units up until November 28th, this morning with help from VG chartz we revealed the PlayStation 4 had sold around 4 Million Units and this was all but confirmed just a few hours ago.
This means the PlayStation 4 has sold around 1.2 Million more units than Microsofts Xbox One and is only 1.5 Million behind the year old Nintendo Wii U.

DLB and SilverK9 will be attending CES 2014 this year with the PlayStation Blog, DLB will be doing exclusive videos and bringing other content during and after CES has finished.
Finally we hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!

For whatever reason Sony didn’t hide the PS4 Interface to well like at other expos this year, i managed to get a few sneaky images which you can see in the photo gallery. But someone did one better and managed to get a quick 40 second clip of the UI in action, from what i got to see at Eurogamer the UI is super slick, smooth and fast and the video below seems to confirm that, check it out.
A playstation 4 developer also answered some questions about the PS4 Interface a few hours after the video was leaked, click the ‘Read More’ button below if your on the homepage.
