Sony has released a statement on the recent issues with the PlayStation 4 launch. The statement confirms there has been various small issues reported since launch which all but confirms the PlayStation 4 doesn’t have a large technical issue, each issue found is generally mistakes in production and have been limited to a small minority of users.

Sony also confirmed the PlayStation 4 has a 1% failure rate, this is very low for a new product launch and is actually well in the industry standard for any electrical product, this confirms that recent reports of PlayStation 4 issues have been very over hyped, you can read the full statement from Sony below.

There have been several issues reported, which leads us to believe there isn’t a singular problem that could impact a broader percentage of PS4 units. We also understand that some units were reportedly damaged during shipping. The number of affected PS4 systems is less than 1%, which represents a very small percentage of total units shipped to date and is within the expected range for a new product introduction. We understand the frustration of consumers that have had a problem and are working with them and our retail partners to help troubleshoot issues and ensure affected units are exchanged.
