It’s almost that time ! Next gen is right around the corner and I can’t wait. I’m ready to see some new IP’s.
However I don’t think the technological leap next gen will be as big as it was this time. (PS2 to PS3…XBOX to 360) I believe it will be a nice little bump up, anywhere between 5x-8x the power of current consoles.
I see next gen consoles packing in a lot of ram for multi tasking purposes. That seems to be the direction consoles are going. Heavy feature base, more Apps, creating an intuitive UI (lord knows PSN needs it) and creating an effective digital distribution model. Most likely all games available day and date retail and digital.

If that is what real time next gen will look like then count me in at launch. We’re finally going to be playing with graphics that match the CG cut scenes in PS1 classics like Final Fantasy VIII. I think its time to start going back and remaking a lot of classics with these new next gen engines because I would really like to play a few classic games like Tomba and Crash with these level of graphics.
Also I agree 100% with you Sik Kid thats the direction thats needed not super uber high end tech anymore.

It would be cool to see SOME classics remade, but I doubt they’d actually remake the game from the ground up, which would be better because they could improve on more than just the visuals. It would probably just be a graphical refresh for full price lol

Oh yea for sure but at least make a new game in the series then as an arcade title. Tomba was a classic.
