article-image

I know many of the DLB-Network users like me love android so i have decided to give you all a heads up on today’s big announcements from google I|O as soon as they happen.

And first off Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been officially announced and the main purpose of the update is speed. They have improved speed/Lag via something called Project Butter, it mainly allows android to now run at 60FPS, this might not sound great but you will see the difference in the video at the bottom of the article. It also will improve response time with the CPU.

There is large amount of other features like dynamically resizing widgets so from now on if you want to put an app icon or other widget where a widget already is it will now simply move to the side so you can put it there. Widget swipe, you can now swipe away widgets from the home screen, You can now do offline voice input, Improved camera ui which now allows you to swipe to see your gallery, more effects, swipe images to delete them and pinch to zoom.

It also features an improved Status bar, alerts now dynamically expand and shrink as they roll in, and canned responses are even integrated. When an MMS pops up you get a preview of the image and can even view full size without leaving the notification area. You can even +1 Google+ notifications and images from same UI. Basically Google has combined its top notch notification system with a interactive, unified inbox.

There is also a large amount of features not announced yet so keep checking back for them in mean time check out the demo between ICS and Jelly Bean Below.

Wow I’m just amazed at how faster and more efficient they’ve made the OS. Can’t wait until this drops in the hands of the homebrew and modding community and you start seeing greater things done with this OS upgrade. Also I want you guys to know that the new HTC EVO 4G LTE is fucking awesome. The things you can do on it is what we always wanted from a multimedia device. I can’t wait for the head to head reviews with it against the iphone5.

I just wish they’d give me an Ice Cream Sandwich update for my Samsung Galaxy Note (AT&T). I’m still running shitty Gingerbread. lol I swear I’m seriously considering getting me an iPhone 5 when it comes out and ditching Android yet again. As long as the iPhone 5 has at least a 4″ screen (hopefully 4.3″ though), I’ll probably sell my Galaxy Note and get it. I like Android’s premise of an open architecture and I love my Note, but their updates are done so sloppily it’s not even funny. Plus, I want my iTunes sync back. And Google’s music buying solutions on it’s Google Play market suck. The iTunes music store is still the best. I’ll be back with Apple soon most likely.

i just recently ordered a Sumsung Galaxy S3 to try out a new platform. Ive been in the Apple Ecosystem since the iPhone 3G. Im just looking for a different platform to broaden my experience. I will keep my iphpne 4 (which doesnt work at 100% due to it going for a swim) but I will give android a go. Hopefully they ship us the jelly bean update when it hits after the Nexus. Im just tired of having to jailbreak my iPhone to customize my phone as i see fit.

@ Blumatt 1st where the hell have you been? and 2nd head over to the XDA forums and look up your tablet/phone (phablet) for rooting and throw a rom on there that supports ICS.

@ MagNum-OPs you made a smart choice trying out android. I’ve never been a fan of Apples snot nosed OS but I think you’ll like the openness that android provides. The Galaxy S3 is a beast of a phone too although I personally would have recommended you the HTC EVO 4G LTE (the GOD phones of all phones :D ) Hit up the XDA forums guys and unlock your phones true potential.

@Blumatt Apples iOS operating system is a great one. No it isnt the flagship do whatever you want OS but IT WORKS. when you download an app you download with confidence that it will work. With android having 100s of dfferent units with different hardware specs etc…its a gamble. Both OS have their strengths and weakness but overall everyone has their own preference. No i wont be rooting cause another downfall of android OS is the frequent malware it possess. Rooting it will leave my phone even more vulnerable. No thanks. Also im not a fan of EVOs. Ive seen them in action (even that 3D crap). Dont like the way the phone looks or feels either. Ima stick with the Galaxy S3 and if im not impressed with it ill migrate back to what i kno that works…iOS. yeah its limited…but it works. Theres room for both in the world. Keeps companies on edge and development in gear.

Apps not working on android is well over stated, i never have apps that just dont work and the malware problem is also not bad i have never used anti virus, i have rooted my phone and have used android for around 2 years and i have never had any sign of a virus.

ive ran into cases many cases as well as others in my circles where apps werent compatible or optimized for my device. frequent app freezes and force quits. no OS is perfect and Android proves it. not saying its horrible/non-functional and everything crashes. just saying from my brief experience with phone i have that came out early this year performs poorly with old 2.3 OS. also ever since i got this phone ive gotten many calls from voice machines that i wasnt getting when i had my iphone. its an everyday thing from many different numbers. just about every app ivee looked at on google play store needs access to my contacts list or my personal information. why im going to try the galaxy s3 is beyond me other than i want to try a new experience other than iOS. Hopefully ICS impresses me or it will probably be the last one i get and revert to a more secure ecosystem. Open Opertating systems my seem great as far as functionality but in long run leaves the user very vulnerable to incompatibility issues (looks at windows OS and hardware/software drivers updates etc)

This is great news. I have found that the lag has become quite bad I can’t wait to check out a new phone with a better OS.
