The PlayStation and its games are growing up with a certain generation, thats why a lot of youth have come into gaming and latched onto XBOX because its the newest console contender on the block just like so many loyal fans left Sega and the Saturn for PlayStation. Yea we all started with Mario and Sonic, but we were really raised on PlayStation. I think most of us are all fairly around the same age give or take a few years but we are generation PlayStation. Where now all these little 12 – 15 years who started on Jak and ratchet have now been converted to the XBOX generation, because all they know how to do is fucking point a gun and want to shoot kill shoot kill… (Read the rest after the jump)
Our generation who were raised on PlayStation from PS1 and PS2 are now much older and mature and want more adult theme games hence Uncharted, Infamous, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, L.A. Noire, and Assassins Creed. We are mentally and physically past the Jak and Ratchet stages of our gaming life but we still hold them close to us emotionally for all the fun and joy they brought us.
This new generation of gamers don’t/can’t appreciate that because Microsoft has jumped the gun this generation and brained washed the current growing generation with Xbox Live, Halo, shoot this, shoot that, and that has in some way desensitize these little brats that they ignored games like Ratchet this generation hence why ratchet didn’t do so well this gen compared to last and thats why Naughty Dog made a great choice to not revive Jak and make The Last of Us.
I do however commend Sony for trying to reclaim the younger generations while also giving its loyal fans awesome HD remakes of timeless PlayStation legacy classics that put this industry on the map and started the golden age of gaming last gen. No one has done that besides Sony…..NO ONE! Microsoft and Nintendo have done so much damage to gaming its not even funny. The balance is thrown off. Nintendo with their kiddy shit going backward instead of forward and Microsoft desensitizing these little ignorant kids to just kill kill kill. Sony is the only one trying to restore the balance of gaming while these two idiots run around destroying shit trying to test the market for a niche buck. First Nintendo wanted to be casual now they’re trying to go harcore again with the Wii U. Microsoft was all about the hardcore paying off devs to fuck up PS3 and get exclusive stuff but now they’re all about Kinect and petting imaginary tigers.
SONY is the only one pushing forward advancing this medium with hardware like the Vita and PS3 and their software like Infamous, Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Singstar, and Little Big Planet. Thats why SONY can’t focus on Jak, Ratchet,Crash,or Tomba anymore they have a duty to all of us true gamers who are evolving in age right along with technology and graphics to never look back and put the main focus on past greatness but to strive to create even more greatness and awesomeness we’ve yet to lay our hands on.
If a stranger from the future walked up to me 7 years ago while I was playing Jak 3 and he told me that Naughty Dog had created a game called Uncharted and he described some of the set pieces and that he wanted me to try the game out do you think I’d still be sitting there playing Jak 3 or do you think I’d be playing a game with a cute blond and a hot ass brunette euro chic while chasing airplanes down runways and kicking ass in bar fights…….
I rest my case no more Jak, no more relying on past glory. Its time to show those other two fuck nuts M$ and Nintendo what gaming is all about and what the name PlayStation really means.
