2012 Game Developer Choice Awards Nominations

The Game Developer Choice Awards is probably the best award show in gaming.  It’s an honor for a developer to earn an award because the voting is done entirely by their peers.  Some of 2011′s biggest games will be on display like Skyrim and Uncharted, but smaller download only Bastion has also earned five nominations.  In addition to the actual video game awards, the GDCA also recognizes important people in the industry with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Pioneer Award, and the Ambassador Award.  This will be the 12th annual GDC Award ceremony being held in San Francisco March 7, 2012.

I have lived my life as best I could, not knowing its purpose, but drawn forward like a moth to a distant moon. and here, at last, I discover a strange truth. That I am only a conduit for a message that eludes my understanding. Who are we, who have been so blessed to share our stories like this? To speak across centuries? Maybe you will answer all the questions I have asked. Maybe you will be the one to make all this suffering worth something in the end.

What?!!! No Uncharted 3 for game of the year??? Well we all know that Skyrim is going to win it then if Uncharted is not a candidate.

Im pretty sure only multi-platform games are allowed in the best game of the year section.

Uncharted 2 won game of the year at the 2010 GDCA. The nominations and voting is done by other developers. Uncharted 3 was great but aside from graphics and narrative it doesn’t have that wow factor UC2 had. The biggest reason why UC3 isn’t nominated for game of the year is because it feels too much like UC2 (my opinion). I do see it taking best narrative and best visual arts.
