UPDATE : Chris Priestly from Bioware went onto the companies official forums and said,”The Unreal Engine is cross platform, hence the PS3 code … This was brought up back in Mass Effect 1 days as well,” adding, “Mass Effect is for the PC and Xbox 360.”
Yesterday, CVG contacted EA simply asking if they were considering releasing the game on the PlayStation 3, EA politely responded with “No comment on that one.” In case you don’t know, that line and “we don’t comment on rumors and speculation” are some of the most used lines by gaming companies when they don’t want to say “yes”.
Also, a polish news site named Kikoo claimed that they have found some PC source code suggesting that a PS3 version of the game has been created, you can find the source code after the break. Remember that nothing has been confirmed yet but if EA didn’t just say “no”, that means a PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 is definitely in consideration.

I haven’t played Mass Effect 1 so I dunno much about the game but from what I’ve seen it looks good. I would buy it if it came 2 PS3 just need to find out what the story is about if it does happen to come to PS3.

OK there is a lot of thrashing going on,
The reason why they are taking their time and maybe putting it on the Playstation 3 later is so that they can have enough time and use all the resources that the Playstation 3 offers. The Playstation 3 uses a Cell processor unlike the 360, so they probably need to add some algorithims that make it work better on the PS3 so that way we don’t get a creation like Bayonetta. Bayonetta was well put together on the 360 but the creators did not know how to use the PS3′s advance cell processing power. Not even Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2 have yet to get the most power out of the PS3. For as what I heard, the only game that might even come close to using the maximum power of the PS3 is Final Fantasy XIII; which only requires one blu-ray disk to run compared to 4 or 5 DVD disks to run.

I have played Mass Effect and it is an excellent game. So far I have clocked over 63 hours in this game and have enjoyed it immensely. The last time I played a game that involving was Tales of Symphony on the Game Cube. If Mass Effect 2 comes to the PS3 I would buy it. I mean, I have truly enjoyed Fallout 3, but now it’s time to jump back into Commander Shepherd’s world again.

OK you seem to be all up on Microsofts jock, Yes you do have a point the microsoft does fork out more money than Sony to third party developers. But as you can see Sony is starting to slowly slip developers from under Microsofts umbrella. Developers want to see how far they can push the PS3′s processing power, But most are not familiar with it or is a little intimidated by it. But to say that the PS3′s cell processor is not much different than the Xbox’s Triple Core Processor is moronic. The reason why is because the Xbox’s processor is similar to the common gaming computers processor while the PS3 is not. The PS3 is a alot different than just a standard gaming desktop, It has each cell programmed to do a specific job which distributes out the power range. Which the 360 has only three cells that does everything at once, thus making it easy to use the maximum power of the triple core processor. The processor has a major part in determining the graphics and speed of a video game (along with a good disk reader and memory).

@Machee: All I can say is: Look at what happened to Bioshock. It finally came to the PS3, so it’s possible it could eventually come. I could care less either way. I haven’t played an RPG since Final Fantasy 8 on PS1 (That game was awesome!!), but if I do decide to get back into RPGs, it will be through FF 13 or, most likely, FF Versus 13.

“Mass Effect 2″ may come to the PS3 or it may not. I’d say the biggest evidence that it may come to the PS3 is Bioware’s refusal to comment on the situation. You ask Epic if “Gears of War” is coming to the PS3 and they falt-out tell you, “No”. When a company responds with “No Comment”, I usually interpret that as “Yes, but we’re not allowed to talk about that yet”.

Your ALL talking some bullshit here. Just stop and think. The PS3 could EASILY handle Mass Effect 2, and im pretty sure the 360 could handle KZ2 and Uncharted 2 (although admittedly on lower graphics – FACT). But thats not what we want to be talking about here.. Save that for another topic. We dont want another 91 posts of pure bullshit that doesnt relate to the topic in the slightest. It is also apparent that there are some clear fanboys here, on BOTH sides of the consoles. Hell, id even probably call myself a Ps3 fanboy, but i have a clear view of whats infront of me. I dont just post random bullshit thats not true (See SOME of Machee’s posts, and RRODPwns). There are only facts to go by as regards hardware, and its a fact that the PS3 has a better cell processer and GPU etc etc, but to say that the 360 cant handle some games is nonsensical. It can handle a game, but maybe on slightly lower graphics, but it can still handle it and thats not what puts developers off developing on other consoles.
Lets not start a flame war and just talk about how exciting and good for bioware that ME2 is (MAYBE) coming to the PS3.

@MataaayBGS: im pretty sure that there are some games that the xbox cant handle. There are a lot more than graphics that goes into games. Theres a lot about architecture, graphics, physics and a whole bunch of other stuff that goes into the development of games. If you going to have a high end game, you have to have high end hardware (thats why there are PCs that are specifically made for gaming). Its without a doubt that the ps3′s hardware is far better than the 360′s hardware. Sure some ps3 games probably could run on the 360 but how much would you have to compromise for the quality of the game. once you make all the compromises, the game is pretty much rendered useless. its like trying to turn a toyota prius into a high performance sports car. once you add all of the necessary components to the prius to make it a sports car, the engine is most likely going to fail after a while because it wasn’t engineered for that type of power. The same thing goes for the xbox 360, the 360 wasnt engineered to handle some of the games that ps3 can. so the question remains…..Why downsize a game when the end result would be below average?

Didnt i say that the CELL is a better processor? all said that faster processor does not make the graphic look better but it runs the game better. Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 can run on the 360 with definite minimal display settings due atleast run the game smoothly, but who knows? that is why MS and 3rd party devs are in synch with each other to make sure that it may happen, games like Alan Wake , Gears, and Mass Effect has awesome graphics already for a console and no one ever thought of FF13 ever running on the 360 until it last year when it was announce on E3 that it will be on the 360 too. But as ive always said, graphics hasnt been the main reason a game will sale or be fun to play with, because i dont fucking go pausing or screenshooting a game for that! So i made sure that gameplay is first, replayability 2nd, experience 3rd, and graphics 4th…last will be stepping back and looking at the overall value.
To answer PS3 fanboy about Mass Effect 2 coming to the PS3….why don’t you think for a 2nd, i wouldnt release a new Mass Effect game on the PS3 when a fully pledge prequel (Mass Effect 1) that is tied essential and connected to the upcoming sequels story and play? I mean how will you enjoy that if you havent play the prequel? unless Bioware a triology collection, which still does not make any sense…why? imagine watching Matrix Revolution without watching the first Matrix, you’ll be confuse and ask yourself how the hell can he evade bullets like that??? plus i know that since Mass Effect 2 just sold 2 million in 1 freaking week! MS will definitely keep their eyes and hold on the ball on this one.

Well actually, Microsoft doesn’t get any money from PC games. The only way they could ever get royalties from PC games is if it’s a “Games For Windows” game, which are extremely rare nowadays, after all there’s a ton of OS’s which can run games.
And the rumours are that ME1&2 will be released on a single Blu-Ray together, so that pretty much answers your reservations about people not having played the 1st one. I’m not saying it will happen, but those are the rumours, it’s not that JUST ME2 will be released.

This is now such a big issue, its just funny how PS3 fanboys are now excited of the rumor and how bad they want the game now in their system after the “I don’t care” , “mass effect sucks anyways”, and “I didn’t play the first one, why should i care for the sequel” quotes , this is how fanboys react and retreat.
