Iwata: The Next Nintendo Will Need More Than Just HD
There have been many rumors about a Wii HD for quite a while now, even analyst Michael Pachter says he knows its coming. Recently, Nintendo had a quarterly investor Q&A where Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata spoke about their next system after the Wii. Iwata said, “If asked if making the Wii compatible with high definition — just making it compatible with high resolution — will get players throughout the world to buy it, I would of course say, ‘Do you think it would sell with just that? It needs something new.’”
In short, Iwata says he thinks the next Nintendo system would need more than just high-definition. HD would definitively be something great in Nintendo’s next system and besides a hard-drive and good online multiplayer, there are most likely things that will package with the system that will spark many peoples interest much like the Wii did. Maybe that systems main controllers will be vitality sensors (sarcasm).

Honestly they don’t need anything new they could repackage the original wii say it was HD and have it not even be even HD and people would still buy it and think it was better. The truth is most people are oblivious to everything and just buy something just to have even if they never use it. Nintendo would be successful even if they did nothing.

the best thing what nintendo should do is to take lesons from sony or microsoft (exept the games collection)
thay made the wii has bad features and all you do is play nothing else

if the wii comes out with a new console, they will again lead in sales, and i’m pretty sure they will have more than just their nintendo fanboys buying them. If they create an easier friend system, better graphics, better online gameplay, and accurate motion control, they will have a lot of success just with that plus more they would probably throw in.

FlameWar is correct in the above post. Even if Nintendo didn’t do anything to its system, it would still sell. That is because they make games that are fun and a system that just works.
All of their first party games are good, and have no significant glitches. Not to mention their games are fun. I’ve spent many days playing Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie, Mario Cart, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64, Killer Instinc: Gold, Super Mario 64, Golden Eye, and Jet Force Gemini just to name a few. Heck! Before online gaming took over, N64 was the best console gaming system out there. That is in terms of good, fun games.
Although the Wii is fun, its games are not the same. They have gone from outstanding single playing games to average multiplaying games for the whole family to play. In truth, the only reason old school gamers buy the Wii is for nostalgia sake.
I miss the N64 days………

It will need more if I’m going to buy it. lol I don’t care if the next Mario Bros. game comes in 120 frames per second and has 1440p resolution. I’m still not buying it.
I wish they’d work on more original IPs like Sony and Microsoft. (I understand the Wii Sports Resort and other motion games are new IPs, but I’m referring to non-motion new IPs.)

I hear you blumatt. I wish they would work on more original IPs as well. However, instead of working on interesting and fun properties, they seem more focused on pushing the envelope on the motion control capabilities. This is not surprising to me because just like the Game Cube and the N64 before it, they have built so much technology into the Wii that they have over engineered it.
The Wii doesn’t really need HD, it needs good games.

the WII NEEDS TO LOOK BETTER, the graphics are rubiish and the only thing that is going for the game is the new style of gameplay and the motion controllers, they need to keep up with XBOX and PS3 visually
