Wii Sells 3M in December, New Mario Bros. Tops 4M

Over the past months, we have seen the Nintendo Wii’s sales slowly start to dive, even in November during Black Friday, the Wii’s sales weren’t that promising but December sure was a big turn-around. Nintendo has just announced that in the month of December, over 3 million Wii’s were sold in the US alone. The recent price drop a few months back certainly helped in sales but another factor was a new major game that released for the system, New Super Mario Brothers Wii, which has also sold over 4 million copies since its release.

It’s reported that this is almost 1 million more Wii’s sold in December in 2009 than 2008. The real question here is will the Wii be able to keep strong sales after this recent spike? or will it keep dropping like it was before December of 2009.

    My guess is there will be a new console by Fall 2011, so even though the sales will probably start declining a little, they’ll pick right back up when the Wii HD (or whatever it’ll be called) comes around.

    Man fuck the wii. The wii sucks so much dick and people keep buying it like idiots. I guess this proves that if you make something shitty people will still buy it. Nintendo deserves an award for somehow making people think that the wii is worth 199$. Forget that shit. The wii should be sold with the same stuff that you find in a toy machine at pizza hut. It is worth about the same.

    these sales don’t mean anything but shows how carelessly people buy things these days. All i see is Nintendo taking advantage of the idiots in the world, but i am not surprised that majority of them are in U.S.

    @blumatt: I dont think Sony would let Nintendo win the next console round or Microsoft for that matter. There not gunna let Nintendo slide under their radar like they did in the beginning. The next go around won`t be so easy for Nindendo, Trust me on that. I can guarantee Nintendo will not be in first place next generation. Sony n MS lurned their lesson this gen. They ain`t gunna let it happen again.

    @Gabeusmc19:

    I’d say it was the way that you both present your stance. And let’s face it, you are a bit of a fanboy :/
