iPad Announced and Detailed With Screenshots

Many people say that it works a lot like the iPhone, and it pretty much does. There are multiple models based on their hard-drive size and internet connectivity, the 16GB is $499 ($629 with 3G); the 32GB is $599 ($729 with 3G); and the 64GB is $699 ($829 with 3G).

You will be able to get your hands on the Wi-Fi models in late march and the 3G models in late April. You are also able to play your iPhone games on the tablet, check out some specs and images after the break.

I feel that this is better than a netbook and a e-reader and thats about it!! I own a iPhone so i dont really see the use in buying a “iPod Touch XL”(shout out 2 JohnsonHD for that one)!! Its missing some key features that could have made it a “MUST HAVE”…but i def would buy this over a netbook cuz i find netbooks are so stupid and do nothing!!

no offense to any mac fans but the iPad is a fail. its just an iphone on steroids. i was expecting something a little more revolutionary. if you already have an iphone, theres no need in getting this oversized ipod touch. In reality, this thing is obsolete because there’s really nothing “new” about it. I’m pretty disappointed with apple right now.

500 dollars for the cheapest one? What the hell is it made with? Unicorn skin and fairy dust? I think Steve Jobs was on Fairy dust when he thought of this idea, so im sure its quite possible. What can It do that the iPhone can’t? iPhone is cheaper, better, and has more features.. So I don’t understand what the point is?

I think they should stop wasting time and money to make these new products and just make a NEW iPhone. Not just 4G either. A new fresh look, for example. Instead of this “iPad” (Which actually looks pretty sleak), why couldnt they just make it a iPhone?

this would be a realy fun toy to play with, but not for everyday use. and if im not gonna use it everyday im not payin a minimum of $500 for it. its not very practical, i see no reason i would get this over a laptop with a much larger hard drive and more capabilities.

@gamepro300: theres no way i would buy a touch. all the touch is is the iphone with no phone on it. if someone had 2 mp3 players in front of you and they told u they are exactly the same except u can use one as ur cell phone too, y the hell would u choose the touch?

@Machee: no way man, it doesnt look like it does anything the iphone doesnt, its HELLA inconvinient to carry around, if ur gonna carry this u should just go get a ultraportable laptop. toshiba has one for $349 with a 160 bg hd, that can surf the web way better, all u need is a sprint card. if u want the ability to play games spend a little extra for a nicer laptop.

maybe some one would buy the touch cause they’re stuck in a 2 year contract with t mobile or verizon or they don’t want the more expensive cell phone plan that comes with the iPhone ever thought about that.

I am disappointed in this product, I expected more to come out the iPad. It’s way too expensive for the few features that have. Maybe the next gen iPad will have more features and a more friendly price.

To all that say this is shit, I really don’t think you can justifiably say that. It’s not that bad. I believe the reason everyone doesn’t like it is because it didn’t do anything that just completely WOWED you. It didn’t do what the iPhone did to us. When it came out, it was revolutionary. This is just a bigger example of the iPhone (without cell phone usage) with a 3G connection (optional). People just hyped it up and everyone was expecting something that was completely revolutionary.

Regardless, it will probably sell pretty good since it is Apple and it’s something new from them. I do agree the selling prices are a bit steep, but just wait awhile until after they’re done milking the early adopters that will pay ANYTHING to get the newest, shiniest tech gadgets. I will not be one of them, unfortunately. Money is too damn tight to blow that kind of money for anything less that a new, fully-functional laptop. (Mine’s a couple years old now. Btw HP is the best. ;) )

This will not sell. MID’s (Mobile Internet Device) have no real market place and just because Apple came out with one doesn’t mean it’ll create one out of thin air.

Speaking of “air” does anyone remember the Macbook Air? That’s essentially a netbook, minus the price, minus the size, minus, well you get my point. Not everything Apple makes is pure gold. They’re just like every other company, sometimes they just make non-sense moves.

@blumatt: Assuming the iPad will sell well just because it’s from Apple is being ignorant of Apple’s history. Only the iPod and iPhone have been a huge success for them. Other recent tech, like MacBook Air or Apple TV, have been rather weak.

iPad doesn’t have enough “wow” to it, and you don’t get much for your buck. I doubt it’ll sell well, especially since the initial reaction to it has been almost entirely negative.

I don’t think it will be a very successful device (at least not it’s 1st generation)… It’ll probably sell to all the hardcore apple fans *cough* mikedemo *cough* lol.. but it just seems to lack very obvious features and the feature set seems way over priced – even for apple tax.

The reason most of you are not feeling the iPad is because you were looking for something else, like all of us were.

The fact of the matter is, we represent a minority of the market – the ‘Tech Savvy’ individuals.

There are more regular Joe’s that just want something that just works. They only need to surf the net, look at photos, listen to music etc – so in that respect, it poops on any netbook. No one wants the hassle of having to manage an OS just to enjoy these activities.

As far as eReaders go, the iPad is much nicer to look at and has many more features to boot (music, HD video, color screen etc.)

So, once you see it for what it IS, instead of what you expected or wanted – you’ll come to see that the iPad is going to kill everything in it’s lane.

@A Big Shot: I still contend that there’s no consumer market for this type of device right now. We’re not in a digital era where MID’s or PMP’s are significant enough in our day to day lives.

If Joe regular wanted to spend $500, minimum mind you, on a device to only “surf the net, look at photos, listen to music etc,” why get something that can only do these things vs. getting a laptop or desktop which can do these and more? Also, a netbook is about half the cost of the bottom line iPad. Joe regular wouldn’t be the type of person to manage his OS anyways so that point is moot.

If I told Joe can either have two oranges for $5 or one apple (did you see what I did there? haha) for $5, which is Joe more likely to choose?

man most of you miss the boat because this is ipod for old farts and it cost so damn much. it is an over priced peace of garbage i have an ipod touch 2g 32gb and not going to upgrade till it has a camera man i think you can get a mac book the same price as the one i was looking to get (800$) range. for all you pc nerds true it had a solid state hard drive but you can not use it like a lab top it is fast but you cant do a lot with it so unless you wont to piss away that money only to discover that one short year later you can get a better one that has more memory and and a bloody camera that it is suppose to have day one

P.S. you need to start one of you pod cast with mother Russia national anthem : ) long live Communism http://www.worldclassflags.com/productimages/cf_ussr.gif
