PlayStation 3

I have just discovered that Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 has cross game invite. I was playing resistance 2 when sand-man sent me a invite from CODMW2. Out of curiousity I tried joining from the messaging service whilst i was playing R2, and when i clicked join, the console asked me if I wanted to quit R2. I clicked yes and then it asked me to insert CODMW2 disk in and click ok, and when i did click ok it sent me into the matchmaking. There was no menus , it was heading straight for the lobby, with the message on screen telling me it was trying to join, but there was a problem at my end where the game crashes at this point. When sand-man tried it whilst he was in uncharted 2 and when he accepted my invite it worked for him. He went from uncharted 2 to CODMW2 with no problem the first time but other times there was problems like the game completely freezing and when you quit the game it reboots the whole system. It seems like there is a glitch in this cross game invite system or it could be a clitch with CODMW2 that needs fixing.
Also you accept to join a game invite from MW2 whilst your not playing any game from the XMB but that one also has a glitch where it gets to the lobby screen then crashes.

I really hope Sony or Infinity Ward fix this issue.

What gets me the most is that the cross game invite has probably been a feature of 3.0 update yet i don’t remember sony saying anything about it, when it was one of the most asked for features.

I guess we will have to see if other game developers in the future use this feature.

Thanks to sand-man for testing this out with me.

The only con I see with this is. Sometimes when you go into the XMB. Your PS3 will freeze. Not all the time, but sometimes it does. But thats Sony’s fault. Maybe if they make a better XMB when your in game and take the stuff that cant be accessed during game through the XMB out of the XMB then it will load faster and run better.

Good video guys. I’m suprised people still play Burnout LOL It’s a good game though

Can’t sony just put an update out for the PS3 to do this on every game? That would make it easy for more ppl to use it and be bug free.

I noticed this the first day Modern Warfare 2 came out. I didn’t think it was a big deal because my screen would always go black.

cool, I’m happy that MW2 is using all of the PS3’s invite functions, hopefully many other games will follow.

This feature is not old, if anyone is refering to games like RE5 or rainbow six or anyother game with a invite system like RE5 or Raindow six, yes with those games you had to send the invite from the xmb friendlist and accept it from their aswell but you had to have the game disc in first. now with this game and i believe dirt 2 has this feature like CODMW2( I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT DIRT 2 AFTER I POSTED THIS) the only other game i believe to use this feature which came sep 09 after 3.0 update, u can join a game a call of duty no matter what game u are playing by clicking on join and the system asks if u wanna quit this game, then put in CODMW2 and click ok and it takes u into lobby straigt away, without fucking about with any menu system. i dont believe any other games other than these 2 games have used it like this, so pleasestop getting it confused with RE5 or anyother game with invite system like because it simply isnt the same.

How is this different from games like Tekken 5 and Rock Band? They also send a message and you go into the XMB message interface to accept the invite to launch the game (although if you already are in the game they will do it automatically)
