Snake and silverk9 could be correct. According to a marketing module i studied on Branding, it seems that IW are trying to create a new Modern Warfare brand, a step away from Call of Duty Franchise. this is evident by the smaller call of duty inscription on the MW2 game box. so it is likely that MW3 will not have the name call of duty on it. this is simply a phase out technique in branding.

@obiloww: Well, MW should have no problem being its own brand. As long as they continue to improve on every game, they’ll have a real winner everytime sales-wise. I just hope IW don’t get lazy and use the name only as a way of selling. They need to keep it fresh.

The beta for BBC2 isn’t bad at all it also hasn’t changed that much from the original. The only big change is the different icons and weapon classes over all the new game play is quiet addictive!

I’m glad DLB agreed with what I was saying in the comments for the recent God of War 3 article. If the game only has a single player and it’s short, it makes sense to rent it, no matter how good it is. I don’t care if that’s hurting the developer, they should make a longer game that worth the money. If you feel the need to buy it straight away because it’s a big title, that’s your business. People need to let others do what they want with their money.

Yes, he will buy those games and so will I. The point is that not everyone will (some will rent or buy it when it’s cheaper) and that’s okay. The funny thing is that none of those games you mentioned are single player only any more. So even the developers want MP’s in their games. You’re misunderstanding me, if you think I want every game to have a MP.

I’m not saying a single player only game isn’t good, I’m saying it’s not really worth £40 anymore imo and in the opinion of a lot of gamers clearly. In other words, I think games should be cheaper. You can dislike that all you want, I don’t really care. U2, MGS4, KZ2 all had great single players. I don’t only play multiplayer games. kthnxbi.

I’m having a great time in Bad Company 2 beta. Very addictive. Don’t base the sequel off Bad Company 1, they were still working on the Frostbite engine when they released that game. But now it’s all finished, and I have to say it’s incredible what they’re doing with it.
Do any of you guys on the podcast have the beta yet? You should do a segment on it on the next podcast, if one of you gets some play-time with it.

Another podcast bitching and complaining about the same old stuff. How bout DLB you talk about some new releases like Assassins Creed 2, L4D2, Tony Hawk ride, new GTA 4 episodes or Microsoft banning about 1 million consoles from xbl.
I like this podcast but no one wants to always here your rants about stuff you don’t like, this podcast is about gaming so focus on games and not system updates. I don’t give a fuck if my 360 or ps3 has Twitter or facebook I’m all about the games! Whenever hoodnerd mentioned L4D 2 DLB just started talking crap about it when he only played the demo not the whole game. There are actually alot of people who probably wanted to here his take on the game and what’s new and different instead DLB just shoots him down and talks more crap. Silverk9 was playing Assassins creed during the pocast how come he didn’t talk about it say some things about the game?
I don’t think this podcast will win that podcast of the year award because it’s not good enough, it’s good but just not good enough only way it wins is if everyone votes everyday three times a day if they use different email accounts to vote more than once.

I was hoping to hear what Hoodnerd thought of L4D2 because he actually owns it, but instead DLB just said he didn’t like the demo, and that was the end of it. I bought it (PC) and I wanted to hear Hood’s take on it.
And I’m getting annoyed about the lack of any news on the podcast as well. There’s hardly any news on the damn blog, and now they don’t even talk about anything new in the podcast, just the exact same argument. I don’t have a problem with your views guys, but we KNOW them, and have known them for months and months. You’re beating a dead horse. An old, rotting, dead horse. It’s not that hard, just visit Joystiq and read about the news, and tell us your (collective) opinions on new games.
Modern Warfare was released weeks ago, it’s not the newest game. And you’re not even up to speed on what’s coming out later this year, you think there’s “literally nothing else this year”, but you’ve forgotten about The Sabotuer & Avatar (which is looking hella good). And Snake’s played the BC2 beta, and SK9’s playing AC2, but why didn’t you ask their thoughts? Come on, and you complain about Sony being lazy? Ain’t that the joke of the century.
I love this podcast, but the past few episodes have been garbage, I’m sorry. I’d tell a mate of mine if he was acting like an asshole, I wouldn’t just sit there and pretend everything he’s doing is ok. That’s why I’m telling you, so you can do something about it.
Quite franky, does anybody here actually care more about FW updates (old and insignificant ones most of the time, at that) than gaming news? I stress “gaming”.
This is exactly why I’ve preferred to listen to The Warzone than DLB’s podcast for the past few weeks.

@DamonTheMoney: Thumbs up +1 for you. I completely agree with you. We need to hear about gaming news, not old news that gets repeated. When Snake mentioned GT5, DLB automatically talked it down. I thinki it’s going to be a great game. All DLB could say was “will you be able to play it with your friends?” Really? I mean damn, DLB, you say you love the PS3, but all we hear lately is what the PS3 lacks. Some things are just never gonna be perfect on the PS3 because they weren’t standardized from the beginning. Now let’s just enjoy it the way it is and wait for the PS4 to make those very few things standard for every game. That being said, the PS3 has come a long way since the beginning.
Now, looking forward, we would all like to hear you all talk more about news and less about complaining and sarcasm. I also would’ve liked to have heard you all talk about the 1 million Xbox LIVE people having their consoles banned. I can appreciate that this podcast is just something you all do for fun, but I believe you all should still strive to get better and DamonTheMoney’s got the right ideas on how to do that.

Guy’s let’s be serious….Infinaty Ward wants their own brand. Not only is the “Call-of-Duty” on the box barely noticable, but has anyone noticed on the screen that prompts you to press start it only says “Modern Warefare 2?” After you press start it only says Modern Warfare 2.
I believe that Infinaty Ward placed Call-of-Duty back on the box because Modern Warfare 2 it is a direct sequal to Call-of-Duty 4: Modern Warfare and as DLB said, they did not want their audience to be confused. But nthe Call-of-Duty is not small for nothing guy’s, Infinaty Ward is trying to tell their audience something.
Now the question is, “well if they call the next game Modern Warfare 3 won’t that be confusing?” No, because it does not have to be a direct sequal. I believe the only reason IW kept the Call-of-Duty in this title is because they had already promised it to be a sequal.

DLB you need to get your head out of your ass, don’t for get that it is your fans who stand by you every week. @ DLB – please read & respond to us
I think Rocc-Monsta, Blumatt, Deadend and myself have said everything that’s needed to be said. But I’d just like to add some extra things. DLB, you need to take a more impartial stance on this ‘console war’. By saying things like “Will you be able to play [GT5] with your friends?”, “Will it have chat?”, or the countless other quotes I could use, you’re spreading false information to people. When you’ve got such a huge following, most of which takes your opinion as fact, you’ve got a responsibility to give them balanced and fair news and stories. If you’re actually going to be talking about NEWS at all, that is.
This isn’t even to mention the fact that you’re not even informed on most the news and situations up to date, from what I’ve hear the last few podcasts, you’re basing your opinions on seemingly nothing. And please let the other guys speak their opinions more often, and throw it out to them (see above posts). I can’t count how many times I’ve listened to you talking about something, rejecting it or being snide & sarcastic about it, only to hear you say how you’re “keeping it real”, when actually you’re ususally unaware of why these things happen the way they do. I wouldn’t care if you like one console over another, or if you say things that are good or bad about them, as long as you’re giving facts and logical reasons, and going from there. But fact based news is pretty damn rare now on the podcast. I swear this is the FOX News of gaming podcasts.
It’s been mentioned above several times, but I’ll say it again, please talk about NEWS. Don’t just keep beating the damn dead horse with this PS3 vs 360 bullshit. We ALL know every good and bad feature of each system. Just talk about what’s been happening in that week. You’ve missed out on some dynamite stuff, like all of the huge game releases recently, or Microsoft banning 5% of their users consoles because they’re modders/pirates.
Maybe you’d be more up to date with the news if you started posting on the Blog. Do you even know when was the last time you posted something on the blog? Just pull your finger out, do some research (it doesn’t take 5 MINUTES to go on Joystiq or G4 and post a story on here, so don’t say you don’t have the time) and give us what you used to! What happened to 10 or 20 posts every day? That’s a monthly figure now.
Now there’s all this talk of there being a new theme and style for the site, but nobody here ever asked for that. We’re all happy the way it is now, as long as there’s news coming in.
I’m sorry for this big rant, but I’ve had a lot to say for a long time. DLB PLEASE don’t think this is hate, I love this website and this podcast. But lately, (and I’m keeping it real here) it’s been garbage. Saying that, I’ve still been voting for you on the podcast awards whenever I can.
Please don’t say something along the lines of “I’m not getting paid for this”, or “I just do this for fun”, or “I’m not forcing anybody to stay” …… Why? Why do I care so much? Because you can go back through your bank statement and you’ll see that $30 that I donated (along with other’s donations) to this website. To you. I expect that money to go towards some effort for more news on both the blog and the podcast. You say it’s ok to complain about the PSN when that’s free, so surely I can complain about something I spent my hard-earned money on.
Also, could you please respond to us one of these times? You keep saying that “the community drives the site”, and the community is telling you what it wants, so I’m sure all of us would like to hear your response. Thanks for reading, peace.

One other thing that I thought was funny in the podcast was DLB making snide remarks about the 2 variations of the Slim and saying how there are so many versions. There is a 120gb and a 250gb. Also in the podcast one of them said the 250 costs $400. It’s only $350.
And I’ve also voted for the podcast because I do love it still, but just wish a few things would change.

Looks like the cat is out of the bag. I too am tired of the podcast. i used to be able to listen to a whole hour and a half podcast but haven’t been able to listen to an entire episode recently. I get bored with the constant talk about sales, and marketing. strategies on how sony can overcome the odds. SO BORING. I enjoy the other guys opinions more. like Snake, snake actually knows what he is talking about, and he always gets pushed aside. i want to hear the other guys speak more. and make sure you know your facts. RESEARCH THE LATEST IN GAMING NEWS… GAMING. talk about the latest VIDEO GAMES. BAD & GOOD. every angle. less sales and strategies talk, that’s so boring. that’s when i usually stop listening, cuz it can go on for a long time and it happens every podcast. i’m voting for the podcast. I don’t think it’s worthy of a vote lately

Like obiloww said, I don’t come here for the most up-to-date news. I have Joystiq, Kotaku, and even Invisible Walls for that. When I listen to the podcast I’m not expecting the crew to cover every topic or be completely objective — to me it’s more like hearing a few gamers discuss recent news and things that are going on in their lives. The podcast is more funny than it is informative, but I still enjoy listening to it. It’s been like that for a while now, so I’m surprised that so many people are coming out of the woodwork and jumping on DLB. I think it has more to do with DLB saying negative things about the PS3 than anything else. Most people came here back when DLB was defending the PS3 and now they feel betrayed lol. Lighten up guys.

I did read your comment, but I didn’t feel like addressing it directly before, but I’ve got some free time, so I’ll do it now.
You said you want the crew to talk about new topics, but the firmware update, facebook feature and MW2 are all new and were discussed in this podcast. Maybe they’re just not talking about what you want to hear. Yes MW2 was released almost 2 weeks ago, but this was the first podcast that they had the chance to speak about it. It’s the biggest game of the year and a game that every single one of them has been playing a lot, so of course they’re going to talk about it. Again, you’re not a fan of COD, so you would see that as a bad thing. One thing I will add is that if any of the crew are going to say something about a game or feature, they shouldn’t treat it like a fact, if they’re unsure. Eg. DLB talking about getting an extra custom class for prestiging.
As for DLB asking the others about the games they’ve been playing — I agree that the others should voice their opinions more, but why should it fall on DLB’s shoulders to keep prompting them? He already sorts out the structure for the podcast, so maybe he’s just tired of asking them extra things now. @Silver, Mike, Snake, Hoodnerd etc. if you’ve played a game that hasn’t been discussed, say something about it, don’t just wait for DLB to ask (he may have forgotten).
You said they keep beating a dead horse with the Xbox 360 vs. PS3 comparisons, but the facebook feature is NEW to the Playstation. It was an opportunity for them to compare the feature now that there’s a version on each console. You can’t blame the podcast because the PS3’s version fell short.
I found this particular part of your comment amusing and ironic:

When I and others complained about Sony adding sparkles to the xmb’s background and the other bells and whistles, I was told to be happy with the update and stop complaining. Who the hell asked Sony for that stuff? I want good features, like you want a lot of news. We could leave and go to another system/podcast, but we want the one we have, like and put money into to improve, right?

I think they are just giving their opinion man. You have to admit that the podcast has changed. DLB still gives facts but he does shut the other guys down rather quickly. Don’t get me wrong though, guy’s DLB does have other responsibilities. DLB does have a child on the way, he does have to work, and we should respect that. DLB may not post as much, but that’s what add-men are for. I also must say, I have not listened to a full podcast in some time. I think the podcast was much better without the sharp, sarcastic responses, and the need to oblitorate everyone’s opinion before they fully express it. I think the the podcast was a place for relaxed gamer chat, but has recetly become to objective, everyone has to walk on eggshells. If the podcast looses its subjectivity it will loose its appeal to a lot of people (maybe not everyone). But PERSONALY, I listen to this podcast over other podcasts because of its subjective feel that makes me feel like I am a part of something. There are enough podcasts out there that are full of guys who get paid for their “objective,” “expert” opinion. How can you be objective about gaming apart from sells numbers? Have those guys don’t deserve the paycheck they receive. But THIS PLACE has been a well welcomed relief. DLB and crew, please don’t let go of what attracted so many people here in the first place, you don’t have to know everything, no one does. It is impossible to be objective in such a subjective world such as the world of gaming (I don’t believe everything is relitive, just to be clear). Relax, “BE IT ONE BE IT ALL, PS3, WII-SIXTY, I DON’T GIVE A HECK CAUSE I’M HERE TO RAP. MY GAME’S ONLINE WITH THE NAME’S YOU CAN FIND AT YOUR LOCAL RETAILER WHEN IT’S TIME TO UNWIND.”

Now let me say this about new firmware features. Sony’s features are ALWAYS placed on the backburner. If Sony brings XGC (cross game chat) to the PS3 tomorrow it would still be scrutinized…why? Facebook may not be as good on the PS3 i.e. I might ot be able to update immediatly what game I am playng and what level I am on. But, Sony does allow people to see what you are doing in a game via Facebook update. I hate that the reason people give as to why the Facebook app on Xbox 360 is better is because people can see that you are on, decide to play with you, go pick up a controller an join…REALLY! What makes that better, or more simplistic than seeing a friend on your buddy list and then go join them. It feels like people are prostrating themselves before any and everything Microsoft does.
Im going to be real with you guys for a second by first saying PLAY WHICH EVER SYSTEM FUFILLS YOUR NEEDS. That’s why I hate when people talk so objectively about apps, or features. Feel it or not everyone brings their personal bias or opinion into every decision they make. Thus, when one person, or a group of people decide a feature one cousel is not as good as another app or the same app on the other console that opinion does not speak for EVERYONE. These are GAME SYSTEMS, to me it does ot matter how good a systems online is if there are no good games to play online. I am sorry but MY PERSONAL OBSERVATION is that most people either play Halo, Gears (whose online is garbage in my opinion), and multiplat games on 360. At myschool, the only games I see 360 owners play are multiplat games. Some people want to be able to do everything under the sun while playing video games, some people just want to play online. Some people want a future proof console, some people want another PC (xbox 360), and they also want to pay for it. But please stop compairing things so objectively…YOU CAN”T! The podcast used to do this very well, but recently has become very EVERYONE BOW DOWN TO MICROSOFT BECAUE OBVIOUSLY THEY DO IT RIGHT FOR EVERYONE ALL THE TIME. In that case, sell your PS3 and play XBOX 360. I like playing a variety of games that are graphically, and experintially superior. I played Killzone2, Socom, and Uncharted2, then I tried to go and play 360 games and it was A JOKE! But don’t worry cause you can update your status on your game via Facebook…is this really what it has come to? But some people like it…go figure.

The slogan is A Place for Gamers so how bout they talk about more games and I know DLB won’t resond to any of these comments in the next podcast he’ll just say it’s free and if you don’t like it don’t come to the site. First of all, you need to understand that I honestly don’t care if they do or don’t like the PS3. I’ve said it multiple times, but that doesn’t seem to be in your head. I’d be saying the exact same thing if he was giving false information about the 360 or PC. So please understand that. Anyway that’s besides the point…
Also I need to say that I’m not talking about this particular podcast alone (of course I know that the facebook updates were news this week), I’m really referring to the last few in general. And I actually agreed with them for the most part about the 360s facebook being better than PS3’s version.
When I said DLB should “give more facts and logical reasons” people seem to take that as though I want this to be a podcast where they only read off cold-hard numbers. No, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. I just want him to be more balanced when he looks at things, instead of passing something off without really listening or thinking further about it (eg the GT5 discussion this week). I’m not saying the podcast should change into something it’s never been, I’m sure you can understand that it’s different to how it used to be a dozen or so episodes ago, I just want it to go back to that.
Also, I don’t know if you’ve donated any money to DLB, but seeing as I have I feel that I’m perfectly entitled to my opinion and I think DLB should take it into account
Well … anyway, everybody’s said pretty much everything now and I stand by what I’ve said, so I won’t be commenting on this any more. I hope DLB will reply to us here or talk in the next podcast about it.
Oh and by the way thank you Undercovermc for pointing out the massive ironic and hypocritical statement I made, obviously I was out of my mind to think that a gaming blog and the UI of a gaming console weren’t comparable … oh well.

i am just going to make one comment on this. Some of you guys keep saying “yea but dlb and the crew have a life outside of gaming”. I hate this accuse. Your making it sound like posting news, talking on the podcast and writing articles is a chore. If they were truely passionate and cared about gaming in general they would want to give there opinion and show everyone what they think. I have seen people in the dlb netowrk-crew play on the ps3 for hours upon hours. And your saying that they dont have time to post on the website, please. What happen to snake and mike, they used to challenge dlb on pretty much any opinion, i loved this. Created such debate and heated disscusions. Now it just seems like there going through a checklist. own_all would have spammed this site with an enormous amount of gaming news if he reminded an admin. there are well over 3 admins on this site and no one bothers to post current news…all be it copy and paste.
whatever the issue may be, i just understand that the fans of this site want it to grow and do well. perhaps if ‘admins’ would spend less time on twitter and youtube and actually focus on their site, this would be much better. or just call it quit!

i have read most of of the comments, not all. i am the person who sent the question in 2 podcast ago asking if DLB still enjoyed his PS3 any more. I have no issue with him being upset with a lack of features, but he never really says anything positive about the system at all. the show just seems to be focusing more on what the PS3 is lacking then what it is excelling at. it does get a bit stale and old quickly. for those saying its not DLB’s job to promote the other cast members, but as soon as they start to voice their opinion, DLB does take over the conversation. It just doesnt seem like there is that much of a team chemistry between the cast members as there probably should be.
