Modern Warfare 2 Sells 7 Million Copies Day One

VGChartz released some info already for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s sales and there is some nice record-breaking statistics. VGChatrz claimed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold over 7 million copies worldwide on it’s first day of release, counting the midnight launch. 55% of sales were on the XBox 360, 33% of sales were on the PS3, and 12% of sales were on the PC. Around 4.2 million units were sold in the Americas, 3.7 million of that in the United States, 1.2 million sold in Germany and 350,00 sold in France and the same amount in Germany
VGChartz is also predicting based on day one sales that the Xbox 360’s sales will smash Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2, 3,985,105) in all time console week one sales with around 5.5 million. They also predict that by the end of the week the PS3 version will land in sixth place in all time console week one sales with about 3.3 million copies sold. VGChartz says this is still preliminary data and they have a possible + 10% or – 10% error. This is still great news on how strong the video game industry is getting.

Lol i called my local gamestop today to see if they had any copies left for the 360. They picked up saying “Thank you for calling GameStop where we have extra copies of Modern Warfare 2, how may I help you?” Oh and, first?

Well I’m not surprised. I don’t know ANYBODY (who has a next gen console) who didn’t get MW2.
Hopefully this leads to better things, like a kick in the butt for people to get bring up PS3 game sales.

i had the game 1 week b4 it came out.. im done with it… i reallly dont play it that much any more. not the way i play call of duty 4.
they added alot of cool stuff, but it still feels like COD4 to me. ima go back to killzone2 and wait for MAG. MW2 = OVERHYPED its a good game but it does not bring anything new like cod4 did. after i over played cod4 i really dont play games online that much.
the game is good. but not crack good like cod4 was… but anyways. so much talk about cod makes me wanna go play it..

That being said, I’m glad IW got the sales they did, BUT just because the 360 did so well does not mean that PS3 exclusives (Killzone 2, MAG, etc.) are crap! Sales are not always indicative of good quality.

Yeah, i’m a fanboy of video games. I love my PC games for RTS, I love my PS3 for it’s exclusive exclusive games (except LBP), I love my Wii because i get to enjoy games with my family and girlfriend, I love my Xbox 360 for it’s Xbox Live greatness and it’s exclusive games (except Halo) , I love my PSP for it’s exclusive handheld games, I love my DSi because it keep my girlfriend busy while i play with all my games.
So there you go, basically i LOVE games and i appreciate all this consoles/handhelds/PC because they come up with great exclusives but when i see Fanboys being so hypocrite and have been so blindsided by games and their console that when i start talking, so you can’t tell me i’m a fanboy because i rant when i read something wrong and give my Opinion!:

Killzone 2 may have great graphics but i couldnt stand and the idea that the settings is so dark and every black in the background is clearly washout. Comparing it to my PC games Crysis is somehow ridiculous considering that fact that Crysis show awesome graphics with its Vivid color. If you check Gears of War 2, the devs clearly brought out the beauty of the games by finally getting some COLORS in there and that is why Uncharted 2 is fucking amazing better than Killzone 2.

This is a GAMER site, where people talk about games and not week by week PS3 firmware update. I mean cmon do you think we PS3 owners really care for that now? This is pretty damn awesome for all systems that have this game. I mean ppl said they was goin to get it but DAMN. I didn’t know it would be this fuckin serious. MW2 will sit @ the top of sales until the next one drop. I honestly don’t give a shit what console sold the most units. Hell i’m just waitin to see how awesome BC BF2 will be.
