KILLZONE 2

It’s been five years since the original Killzone released in Europe on the PlayStation 2. Guerrilla games will be celebrating this week and next week. This weekend is Double XP Weekend and a retro tournament which will be held on the Beach Head and Southern Hills maps in Killzone 2, that is, if you’re able to pry yourself away from that Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. Also, Killzone 2 DLC is now on sale in the PlayStation Store until December 10th.

Later this week producer Sebastian Downie and Lead Online Game Designer, Eric Boltjes will play through the original Killzone game with commentary on Killzone.com. If you stop by Killzone.com again next week, editor Victor Zuylen will be doing a comparison of different features in Killzone 2 and the original Killzone if you’re interested in that type of stuff.

This is how you can tell they haven’t experienced the original KZ in quite some time. The graphics and audio in KZ2 are truly superb compared to KZ1, but from a pure gameplay perspective KZ1 kicks the crap out of KZ2 for features. If that editor gives an honest comparison it’s only going to make KZ2 look bad compared to KZ1. Haha. ;)

everybody had been playing cod4 for quite some time up until killzone2 and the timing just wasnt right. people wanted a fast paced shooter and instead got a realistic one with a lot of weight to it. the game was fun for a few weeks and then the multiplayer got boring after you leveled to the max. oh well .. and since fps are the huge genre of gaming for this generation, what do you guys think will be the next big genre?

@tjmul: lol killzone2 isnt realistic, re spawning health, a health shield, sentry guns, fighting aliens damn shit is almost at the level of realism to halo

its just has weight to the guns which makes the movements slower and not as fun as say cod4

It’s crazy to think it’s been 5 years since I played Killzone on the PS2. I actually thought it was an awesome game back then, except even then, I though the lack of a jump button kinda sucked. I mean how do you leave out a jump button. lol
