Got A Modded 360? Look Out!
A quick heads up to anyone using a modified Xbox 360 to play pirated games. Major Nelson has reported on his blog that Microsoft is clamping down on these people and has been banning, and will continue to ban many more accounts if this is spotted. Read his full statement after the break.
“As you may have read online, we’ve been actively banning consoles from Xbox LIVE that have been modified to play pirated games. Our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community remains a top priority. All consumers should know that piracy is illegal, and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs, violates the Xbox LIVE terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox LIVE. The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them. This would also be a good time to remind you that the warranty on an Xbox 360 console is not transferrable and if you purchase a used console that has been previously banned, you will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE.” – Major Nelson (Microsoft)

I don’t care if people play pirated games they cost too damn much, thats why people pirate them. Every generation the game price goes up $10 I dont feel bad about these companies losing money. Microsoft should be more smart like Sony and make it nearly impossible to mod the system to play pirated games. The ps3 doesn’t have this problem because people can’t crack the system to play pirated games.

Only reason I own a box is to play pirated games. I never take it online so I wont get caught. Thanks to MS for making a system so easy to hack. I only pay 5-10 dollars for my games now on the box.

its simple you can play online but every game you get copied must be xbox live safe its not hard im not going into details really about it but i have over 200 games for the xbox and never got caught
plus i dont play games alteast a week after they come out aswell

A bentley and a $60 game are two wayyy diffrent things. 60 is too high of a price point to buy games at, Some of
which are not even worth the money in the long run. Also I seriously doubt it’s hurting the industry in a MAJOR way. Lol once upon a time Quake 1 was a pirated game.

There’s difference between stealing a Bentley and pirating a game, if I steal a Bentley – the owner no longer has it in their possession, if I pirate your copy of Halo 3, I’ve simply made a copy of it and you still have the game.

When you buy a game, you don’t actually own that game. YOU only own the license to play that game. That not just with software, its with MOVIES and MUSIC too. When you make a copy of a game for yourself, thats fine. However when you copy that game and PIRATE it, thats illegal. Because again, you only purchased the license to play that game.
