Cross-Game Chat Now Brought Up By Naughty Dog
We have had some previous information about cross-game chat coming to the PlayStation 3 in the next firmware update. Less than a month ago, VG247 said that they were given a tip from Sony that cross-game chat was coming in update 3.10 but now ReklissAbandon, a Naught Dog staff member left a comment in a forum post about Uncharted 2 online communication. He said the following…
“I think they wanted people to have fun and e[n]joy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on. But I will suggest it anyway. Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions.”
It can’t be seen now because it was mysteriously deleted from the forums. You can probably guess why but it can be seen as a quote for a reply to him further down the forum board. Sony quickly came with the popular saying this time, “We haven’t made any announcements on upcoming firmware and don’t comment on rumor or speculation.”

this is another rumor. why would a Naughty dog dev know about something sony have not even developed yet? the ND dev might have been going off the rumor that he heard, not saying it like fact!
i still believe that cross game chat is not possible on the ps3, as much as universal cross game music. the ingame xmb is well laggy, how do u think the ps3 will cope with voice chat by crappy internet connections on the 256mb system ram. if sony makes a version of ps3 with 512 or higher ram, i would think it can then do anything, but as of now….no way!

I sent this message to my friends on PSN a few hrs ago. Another rumor I heard about a month ago was that Sony was doing 1 more update @ the end of this month we are in now. Due to the high request of the PSN. They even sent out emails asking ppl to do a servey. So I don’t think its too much of a rumor. But i’ll take it with a grain of salt.

they said update 3.0 or 3.01 was to be the last major update this year! cross-chat is a major update, its bigger and better than themes and sparkles, so i doubt cross-chat is coming this year

cross game chat is not as major as a total xmb remake. the ps3 is basicly defriend now. and cross game chat is not as big as that. so it could be coming.. why would they say they werent going to send out any ‘major’ updates. that means there is going to be some not as big updates

It is coming denying it now is just a moot point. Naughty Dog would know a lot about upcoming firmware as they would be up on what they can do… ala twitter support… to make their game stand out in the crowd.

Well I still stand by the servey in my email. Only reason i’m sticking to it is because I know whoever got the servey said something about CGC coming soon. I know some ppl are going to piss all over this topic but oh well. CGC has been a major deal for a long time on PS3. Just think of it like this…if it comes this month or next year DEAL WITH IT, IT’S FREE.

They did mention they had cross game chat in the works it just needed some serious tweaking before they launched it, they stated this back before 3.00 came out. And by the way the PS3 does have 512mb ram, its split, 256mb DDR and 256mb XDR ram. No matter what I cant wait for this feature.

If they felt the need to delete ReklissAbandon’s comment, (the Naughty Dog staff member). Don’t you guys think that there is some truth to the matter of this leak of information.

It’s coming people and I believe that they are pushing to get Cross game chat out before MW2 so Infinity Ward won’t bitch about inter-grading it in their game before or a little bit after the launch of MW2.

It’s taken them quite a while to deliver cross game chat. In my opinion, I doubt it was they weren’t able to do it some time ago. There just taking their sweet time and working on other multiple projects extend the life of the console. Their playing it safe and smart.

Well like a lot of us have said before…IT’S FREE…so if it’s half assed the so what. IT’S FREE. Play on xbox if you want everything to be on point. We as PSN cannot make a fuss on anything we get as far as updates or anything else that is free. If ppl like to complain about shit XBL can charge you for all the things PSN is giving away free.

I just found out that XBL will be bumping up the price for online gaming. It’s now @ $50 a yea, they said it will be up to $100 a year in the next few yrs. I don’t kno if its 100% true but that’s what I read on another site.

Whoever said it’s going to waste? My bro and I have a great time on my PS3, as do a lot of my friends have great times on theirs. I couldn’t really care less about having twitter, facebook or cross-game chat on my games console. It’s a games console, not a social networking hub. That’s what my computer’s for, and I surf the net and talk to my friends and family for no money whatsoever on my PC and it’s inches from my face as I play GAMES my PS3. Maybe you think it’s going to waste but don’t just sit there thinking that’s everybody’s opinion and it’s a fact.
