KONAMI ANNOUNCES DETAILS FOR THE METAL GEAR® ONLINE 2009 TOURNAMENT
In celebration of the one-year anniversary of METAL GEAR SOLID 4 GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. announced today the first details of the METAL GEAR ONLINE 2009 Tournament. Entry will begin on June 23rd with play scheduled to kick off on June 26th. The tournament is open to players in the United States – but hurry, only a limited number of players can participate. The METAL GEAR SOLID 2009 Tournament will pit teams head-to-head in Team Deathmatch mode, with the winning squads advancing through the bracket until the final team is left standing. Players must own the SCENE Expansion pack to participate. Prizes will be announced at a later date.
1) Log into MGO with the character you wish to enter into the Tournament (starting June 23rd) – but hurry, only a limited number of players can participate
2) Go to Lobby Select and choose Tournament Registration
3) On the Lobby Screen select one of the 4 tournament lobbies to register (i.e. US TOURNEY 1, US TOURNEY 2, etc.)
4) Select either Join Team (pick a team off the list to join), Create Team and Submit Entry (set up the team name and password), or Solo Entry (assigned to a random team)
Reserve your spot early, space is limited!
So who all is going to join snake-oo and do this??

I swear the god you guys are so fucking stupid. Jesus christ of course this game is alive. Yall choose to miss out on the most balanced and most skilled most unique shooter all over the want of stupid trophies. Not playing a game just because of trophies. I hate people like yall.

iz u crazy, mgo is a wack game to me, i played it and i didnt like it. they have a right to request trophies. its like buying a car with no paint job..but mgs4 was out before the whole trophy thing, so i will not blame konami

Besides, nobody here said the game wasn’t alive or that they didn’t play it because it has no trophies. MGS4 is my favourite game of all time, I’ve played it five times!

Dude what’s your problem. Nobody is saying MGS4 is a bad game because it doesn’t have trophies. I already beat MGS4 and I’ll go back to it when I feel like it, trophies just would have made it sooner. If you gave me $60 to buy MGS4 then I would play it right now but seeing you didn’t you have no authority to me what to do with my own game. I’m a trophy pimp and you can waste time hating on people like us but it won’t do you any good. Big ups to Konami for making a great game.

I’m talking about the Online Component. It’s just completely sad that the online community is small because of the lack of interest or “trophies” or understanding how to have fun with the game. It’s the most popular shooter in Japan and In my opinion, the best online shooter right now. Yall act like the online doesn’t matter. Online in MGS4 is popular right now and yall don’t even know it. Small community, but does that make it a “bad” game? No. Yall been whining and complaining all the time when Konami actually makes a update for MGO. Like whenever they announce new maps/game mode everyone single trophy whore goes like “BOO! GIVE US TROPHIES” and RIGHT NOW, RIGHT NOW, yall are still booing when they make a announcement for a tournament in MGO. Improving MGO>Adding trophys. They don’t have time for trophy whores.

But I do agree with you that Kojima Productions have done a lot for MGO and most people pass it off as though it doesn’t matter. The online was great in my opinion, I had a blast in it (admittedly, I haven’t played it in a while). But nobody dislikes MGO because it doesn’t have trophies, people don’t like it for lots of other reasons (I won’t delve into them right now).
Sure it would be nice if there were trophies (you just can’t argue with that), but it’s not important at all it’s a fantastic game in it’s own right, for the single and multiplayer. Besides, if Konami wanted to add trophies, they would’ve done it a looooooong time ago.
I 100% agree with you that improving MGO is more important than adding trophies. Though, you could argue either way with that… Because it’s great for people who are into MGO, but (let’s face it) nobody else is going to get into it if they didn’t like it in the first place. And like you said, MGO has a fairly small community so Konami are gearing towards the minority (as opposed to the majority of people who want trophies).
But I don’t give a crap about trophies anyway, I’m glad they’re giving the people who play MGO a tournament! I might sign up, it’ll be a good chance to get back into it.

If you have a problem with someone hating on MGO because of trophy support, you should man up and hit up the MGO forums. Don’t go throwing temper fits around here because we might not like MGO as much as you do. For me Cod4>MGO and if you notice cod4 didn’t have trophies either.

MGS4/MGO is an amazing game i love it all the same but dont get mad bc your prob one of the selective few that literally SUCK at getting trophies and bc of that you hate everyone who is good at getting them. we cant help that we’re just straight up GAMERS so get over it and move on with your life
