A Big Shot Michael Pacther, the best video game analyst in the industry makes some pretty good points during this clip from Gametrailers E3 coverage. Any of you who listened to the last podcast know that DLB agrees that this price is too much.
Pacther also goes on to say that the PSPGO pricing is more what the PS3 pricing should look like – anyone agree?

What’s funny is it’s smaller too and they’ve been making a profit on the PSP3000, so why not lower the price? It’s not a good look to go against the iPod Touch. As a matter of fact, I recently chose to get an iPhone 3GS over a PSP after the announcement of the PSPGO.

They did make some good points, and I did agree with a lot of them.
However, I’m still perfectly willing to spend £150 on the PSP Go and I’ll get it when it comes out.

WHOA! Hang on!!
I just looked at the exchange rate from USD to Pounds Sterling and it was $250 = £150 (almost).
But then I look at the preorder price for the PSPGo on the Game website, and it says that it’ll cost £230!!!!! FUCK OFF!!!
$250 DOES NOT EQUAL £230 (according to exchange websites). If it actually costs that much I’m just going to get the PSP3000.

I agree that it is overpriced. I also think the add ons for other consoles are also. People will buy it hands down. I also think the guy in the video has been proven to be a Microsoft advocate, HE NEVER SAYS ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT SONY. The system could be cheaper, but once again no one can say anything good about Playstation anything. I’ts ok if MS overprices hard drives and peripherals. Man… it would be ok if MS asked for your wallet every month to take a collection…THEY CAN DO NO WRONG EH?

i just think the psp go is the same as the ds lite, its smaller, better to look at and has new technology than the previous model so its more expensive, nintendo did it when going from the ds to the ds lite, fair enough sony is milking it abit but i dont care, i barley use my 2000 now, i use my ipod touch 16gig way more.,

No, if they are trying to go with this new all digital format and getting rid of the umd drive that creates fewer moving parts and less cost to manufacture. They will make more money on the go than they do on the 3000 right out of the gate. The new price point is nothing less than price gouging their consumers it’s a total microsoft move.
I wanted to replace my fat with a go but there is no way I will do it at that price point. I am more than a little pissed off about it so I guess maybe I will pick up an iphone when the upgrade hits.

Yes, the PSP Go is overpriced and I’m not buying it. My PSP1000 is a dust collector and even with the new games they’re going to release for the PSP, I just don’t think I’m interested in handheld gaming anymore. My PS3 is enough for me.

Lol, welcome to UK pricing! You guys should know by now that the price of a product in the UK is not the equivalent to the price in the US. We are always charged more for the same item (see PS3, iPhone etc.), but some other countries have it worse off than us. It’s annoying, but it’s the way it is.

Question, Remember OnLive? I remember a statement saying, ” that they don’t expected consumers to really jump on board OnLive until the next gen of consoles” or something to that degree . Do u think that Sony, M$, and Nintendo may go digital 4 their next gen console. The PSP GO is digital, so y not. It can protect them from OnLive. What do u think?

the PSPGO is overpriced it should cost like $180 if i would spend 250 i’ll save up 50 more and get a 360 to be honest. but someone is selling me a 360 with 120 gigs with 5 games for $200 so yea lol.

onlive isnt digital distro techncly when u buy a game on onlive they keep the games at there servers and just stream it to you, you never actually obtain a digital copy just the access to play one of there copys.
- I have to agree with patcher , but nintendo also did the same shit with dsi. not only can you get a wii at 250 but you can get a xbox 360 arcade with a harddrive for that price. i dont care im happy with my 3000 , if the world goes digital distro i will just go out and buy a 16GB mem stick since they are getting cheaper.

I can’t wait for the day that each console goes completely digital! I’m happy that Sony and Microsoft are experimenting with DD.
Broadband is still not available in some areas of the world and that is one of the biggest problems DD faces. All game companies will jump aboard eventually when it’s safe ’cause it will effectively eliminate trade-ins.

DSi also has a 2nd camera probably some others but I forget now – iPhone on the brain lol
Also good point – 16GB cards are around $60-80, but that’ll only get you about 12-18 games depending on the game, not counting any music or movies you may have.

Really?? I dont want consoles to go strictly digital. For home consoles I like actually having a disc and case. But DD is welcome on portables IMO. Because I hate the fact that everytime i take my psp or dsi somewhere I have to take every game I might play with me. With the PSP GO all you need is the system.

Yeah man, that’s just my own personal opinion. I’d rather stream everything or boot it from my HD. I work in audio so I have easily a couple of thousand cd’s & dvd’s around my house and studio, after so much time I forget what’s what lol. It’s much easier to have 4 or 5 external HD’s.

I c, thx for awesome that helps. C that’s what make me kind of skeptical about OnLive. So, I kind of hoping that the next gen consoles will be digital, but if it does. Do u think video game will be cheaper since it not a disk and will it open a door way for developers to make bigger game since they won’t be limited by disk space or am I missing something? That could save money ^^

Well, it is a videogame discussion so I really don’t think it’s all that crazy when discussing one system that the other two come up. I think in most cases when you talk about the PSP the iphone and Ds seem to come up for comparison purposes but I don’t see you taking little jabs at the iphone for always showing up in PSP threads.

I love how everybody tries to come up with something negative with everything related to Sony and the Playstation brand. The PSP 3000 will still be on the market and you can still buy that if you choose so how is Sony ripping people off with the PSP GO? Plus with the improvements made with the PSP I can easily see it being worth $250 especially for people who haven’t bought a PSP yet. If Microsoft came out with a handheld for this same price none of you would be saying it’s a rip off. It’s funny to me how everybody thinks Sony is just suppose to give away everything for free and dirt cheap.
