    Mike Mike Mike

There are only 2 handheld gaming devices out at a time and there thousands mobile phone device out at a time.

You are exaggerating ur point, the controls is a major factor which makes the iPhone more of a PHONE than a gaming device.

Mike, noone wants to be in the middle of a ranked online match, when sudden a phone call comes in.

Do u really feel ppl would regularly buy multi games for the iPhone on a monthly bases?

Which wont make it a viable market for developers.

Its not about the power of the phone but the functionality, my phone has a music player but i hardly ever play music on it, because of the battery life.

If my PSP battery dies its not a big deal, but if my phone’s battery dies while am on the move its a different story.

well i know in japan there’s a large cell phone / gaming market but it’s not as big as the handheld market . it may take off but it won’t be that big because most of the cell phone user’s probably don’t play games or at least not hand held games . but it does have potential . but for apple to make a difference they would have to change people’s idea of what a cell phone is used for . for the foreseeable future , apple doesn’t pose a threat to Sony or Nintendo at all . great podcast by the way , can’t wait for the next one .

1.1 billion….that means that even if only 1% of cellphone users bought games on their phones that’s still 10,000,000 people. So if Apple is saying the ipod is the future of mobile gaming then that could possibly be true. DLB is assuming that they’re talking about what’s out right now. Right now isn’t the future. Apple’s ipod has a huge following so all they would have to do is create a new ipod more suitable for playing games.

that whole discussion was about apple saying they are the future of GAMING maybe you should listen close before you post a dumb comment.

anywayz, good podcast, most heated discussion yet, and does raise a good question. HOW is ipod the future of gaming?

Mike is my dude, But I am a PDA owner. I will rather pick up my PSP over a PDA. PDAs are ment for organizing and keeping in touch. I will play a lil game on my PDA, but then you have to look at battery life, possible phone calls in the middle of games. Apple did not create this market they are talking about. Treo had frogger on it forever. A PDA will never compair to a PSP or a DS as far as gaming goes.

I own a windows mobile phone, the only games I have are the NES and SNES ROMs for the Emulators. I STILL ONLY PLAY FOR 5 MINs IN A LINE SOMEWHERE. Games on phones are just there to pass time if you are waiting for something, hence why salitare is on so much phones. PSP is for games.

By the time Apple finds that place you are talking about they are growing, Sony and Nintendo mobile gaming will be way ahead.

    Controls are the main thing.
