I think it’s a bit early to be calling this game GOTY. I’m sure it’ll be good, but I think GTA4 or Spore will beat it out for GOTY honors.

i dont know marty , i mean this game vs gta 4 is a bit different gta 4 is one city with a ok story and ok online, and lots of things to do.1 city and open world, MGS4 takes place in 5 different places and its open world in each of these places , theres also a awesome sound track in mgs4 and theres about 2-3 hours of cutscenes all together , and MGO is just sold seperatly but its tech considered as the online for this game which is gonna be awesome because the best online on psp was mgspo and + and this is a huge redone of that on a console. now spore has lots of customization and worlds but the gameplay doesnt seem fun. this year i think it will be mgs4 in first , gears2 in second, and smash bros brawl in third.

I agree with what you said, MGS has a lot of good things to offer. And I like I said, it’s undoubtedly going to be a great game. I just don’t think MGS4 has the mass appeal that games like Spore or GTA4 have, and I think that will set it aside from achieving GOTY.
I hadn’t really considered Gears 2 for the title either… I’ll have to wait to play it. My guess is that it’ll be a good game as well, but it’ll be too similar to the original to be GOTY material. We’ll have to wait and see though.

After playing the Bourne Conspiracy that game should be game of the year lol because it’s fucking BALLIN…
It’s has it’s own new fighting scheme and is action packed to the core.
But it won’t get game of the year because 1 it isn’t hyped 2. it’s graphics aren’t the best but it’s next gen.

Yeah, I definantly can’t wait for MGS4.
And to reply to: Lord Xire of FSR, Metal Gear Solid 4 IS hyped. Metal Gear Solid 4 is having a Mid-night release and ANY game that has a Mid-night release is HYPED. And the graphics in MGS4 are phenomenial. MGS4 will be one of the top contenders for Game of the Year because besides GTA4, I honestly don’t see any other game coming out this year that stands the chance for Game of the Year, not even Gears 2.
Anyways, for anyone that’s a real die hard Metal Gear Solid gamer, you’ve got to pick up the MGS4 Limited Edition Strategy Guide. I just got mine Friday June 6th and there’s a MGS4 Lithograph by the artist for MGS Yoji Shinkawa and on the back it’s numbered and there was ONLY 43,000 made. It’s definantly a rare item to have for a Metal Gear gamer. And I didn’t look at the walkthrough in the Guide, I just looked at the controls and read the introduction and such, I wouldn’t spoil the game for myself before I get it!

this game should be beast i had never played the MGS series until i heard of MGS4 and then went out and bought MGS the essential collection and have almost beat MGS1 and am loving it
